It’s because the “Woke” generation likes to pretend they invented inclusiveness and feminism. When I was in Kindergarten (in 1986) the school librarian read us a book about why it’s important to let little boys play with dolls and own dolls if they want them.   Again, this was in 1986 but that somehow blows the minds of this generation.  How did we go so backward that these things from our past surprise them?  I’ve seen kids try to argue how “unrealistic” Stranger Things and Stephen King’s It were because it had white kids friends with a black boy and how “that didn’t happen back then.”    And I’m sitting here like “Where do you think all your interracial friends came from?   Spawned from cabbages?”   Stephen King wrote “It” in 1986 and based it on the dynamic of real friendships he had in the 1950s. When my parents were in 6th grade they had a drawing teacher who was a pedophile. One day he reached under a girls shirt and pinched her breasts and the boys started screaming at him and throwing objects. Their antics alerted the principal, and the boys told him everything and the pedo bastard got fired. THIS WAS IN INDIA IN THE 70s. EVEN BACK THEN 10-12 YEAR OLD BOYS UNDERSTOOD THAT SEXUAL HARASSMENT WAS BAD. People didn’t live in caves and go “unga bunga rape is totes good” and then suddenly change 10 years ago. Because the media keeps acting like we dont already know its bad, they keep pushing the woke agenda when its been normal to call out sexist crap and to not be racist for years now. Lots of whites marched alongside MLK during the Civil Rights movement in the 60s. Because they too saw the bullshit that was Jim Crow Laws. Not being racist is nothing new. I think a lot of activists want to think they’re plucky rebels.I see lots of them who get outright upset when someone goes “the world is less prejudiced than you think”. I’m still reeling from the fact that apparently people don’t think black kids and white kids were friends in the fucking 80s? Like 50s I could at least get the assumption but the 80s???

Here’s some knowledge I’d like to share: There’s actually been studies as to why it’s usually white kids, a large conclusion amongst the criminology community is that those that often have more privileged lives (white kids in our society’s case) are less adept to dealing with stress and denial. Whereas minorities and others are more likely to cope and function normally despite stressors because of the constant stressors that come from systematic racism and/or other platforms of more limited priviledge. TL;DR: It’s usually a white kid because their privilege incacipated their ability to learn how to handle stress/ denial/ whatever without acting out. The less privileged are done used to the bs and thus typically dont turn to extreme measures as coping mechanisms. EDIT: I had reblogged this and added a link to the paper (which I should’ve done to begin with,) but it’s probably best I just edit my original reblog and add the link (which I also should’ve just done already.) In fact white people will run to a whole new zip code as soon as the neighborhood starts to diversify. It’s called White Flight, and while I don’t know how often that happened in Canada, in the US it is very well documented how much White people have always hated diversity, and ran away from it at every opportunity. It’s not genocide if the reason that classroom is Brown is because all the White People ran away! YUP. An organization in my city (which is 55% Black in the city proper) recently analyzed the racial data of the public schools, and found that the whitest schools are about 70% white with a Black population of about 7% on average (the other +/- 23% is predominantly Asian in those schools, with Latino numbers close to the Black numbers). Some look at that data and say, well, 70% white reflects the population! But it doesn’t. Not when you consider that a full 50% of white kids in the metro area (when you include the suburbs, it’s about 65% white) are not in the public school system. So, if 50% of white kids are not in the public school system, an integrated school would have about 30% white kids, not 70%. Schools with 30% white kids and 70% black, Latino and Asian kids are considered “bad” schools, regardless of facilities, teachers, and achievements. When you factor in the fact that nearly all of those white kids are working class or poor, these are considered straight up Black schools, no different from schools that are 90% Black. No one wants to say it, but the undesirability of these schools – schools that, today, have things like Innovation centers, engineering labs, pro level TV studios, robotics labs, commercial kitchens and even working farms, things that many private and predominantly white charters don’t have – is painfully clear. It’s not about facilities or programs. The most innovative schools in the city serve majority minority student bodies. Even objectively good schools, if they serve students that are Black, ESL, IDD, and low income, are not fit for middle class to wealthy white kids according to their parents. And I live in a very Blue state. I know very “liberal” parents who wouldn’t dream of sending their kids to a non-charter or non white segregated public school. It’s not “genocide.” Far from it. It’s voluntary white segregation.

But, Schulz did take the time to respond, saying he was intrigued with the idea, but wasn’t sure whether it would be right, coming from him, he didn’t want to make matters worse, he felt that it may sound condescending to people of color.</p> <p>Glickman did not give up, and continued communicating with Schulz, with Schulz surprisingly responding each time. She would even have black friends write to Schulz and explain to him what it would mean to them and gave him some suggestions on how to introduce such a character without offending anyone. This conversation would continue until one day, Schulz would tell Glickman to check her newspaper on July 31, 1968.</p> <p>On that date, the cartoon, as created by Schulz, shows Charlie Brown meeting a new character, named Franklin. Other than his color, Franklin was just an ordinary kid who befriends and helps Charlie Brown. Franklin also mentions that his father was “over at Vietnam.” At the end of the series, which lasted three strips, Charlie invites Franklin to spend the night one day so they can continue their friendship.</p> <p>There was no big announcement, there was no big deal, it was just a natural conversation between two kids, whose obvious differences did not matter to them. And, the fact that Franklin’s father was fighting for this country was also a very strong statement by Schulz.</p> <p>Although Schulz never made a big deal over the inclusion of Franklin, there were many fans, especially in the South, who were very upset by it and that made national news. One Southern editor even said, “I don’t mind you having a black character, but please don’t show them in school together.”</p> <p>It would eventually lead to a conversation between Schulz and the president of the comic’s distribution company, who was concerned about the introduction of Franklin and how it might affect Schulz’ popularity. Many newspapers during that time had threatened to cut the strip.</p> <p>Schulz’ response: “I remember telling Larry at the time about Franklin – he wanted me to change it, and we talked about it for a long while on the phone, and I finally sighed and said, “Well, Larry, let’s put it this way: Either you print it just the way I draw it or I quit. Franklin also mentions that his father was “over at Vietnam.” At the end of the series, which lasted three strips, Charlie invites Franklin to spend the night one day so they can continue their friendship.</p> <p>There was no big announcement, there was no big deal, it was just a natural conversation between two kids, whose obvious differences did not matter to them. And, the fact that Franklin’s father was fighting for this country was also a very strong statement by Schulz.</p> <p>Although Schulz never made a big deal over the inclusion of Franklin, there were many fans, especially in the South, who were very upset by it and that made national news.
