She would clock in about 19.5 hours a day caring for the couple, and being a nanny to their five children. In addition, the couple wouldn’t allow her to have any type of pay nor breaks, and would physically and verbally abuse her. Some of the abuse ranged from not allowing her to have warm showers as well as feeding her leftovers as meals. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The victim was literally trapped by the couple who had taken her passport away. They’d make made physical threats to force her to stay. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Luckily, the National Human Trafficking Resource Center was tipped off in October 2015 after the victim’s U.S. visa paperwork included false information. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Last year, Sandra Nsobundu pleaded guilty to unlawful conduct with respect to documents in furtherance of forced labor. As for her husband, Chudy Nsobundu, he pleaded guilty to visa fraud.
