Black Lives Matter, Memes, and Protest: DEAR WHTE WOMEN OVARE WE GONG TO FIX WHAT WE HAVE DONE DEAR WHITE WOMEN ☝🏻☝🏻☝🏻☝🏻 Repost @kidd.bell: “Standing in a sea of pink pussy hats for the second year in a row I’m struck by how many well-intentioned women are still missing the mark. We have to start using our voices and our outrage to protest more than just misogyny. Whether you voted for trump or not, you benefit from white supremacy on the daily. So ask yourself, what are you doing to actively dismantle it? Do you show up for Black Lives Matter the way you do for the Women’s March? Do you defend the rights of immigrants as much as you do your pussy? Do you call out racism with the same fervor that you proclaimed MeToo? White women are oppressed, but we are also oppressors. And if we truly want to dismantle this system, we must first hold ourselves accountable. ✊🏼” . . (update by @kidd.bell: to all those feeling massive outrage against this post - ask yourself why. Why does me acknowledging our privilege, and asking you to think about ways you can better serve WOC, upset you so much? If you are doing tons to help the marginalized then why aren’t you supporting this post, and demanding the same of others? Sitting in discomfort is how we grow. If this makes you feel attacked, then it probably means that you are the one who needs to hear it the most. And if you don’t want to listen to my words then, listen to Angela Davis. Others reportedly believe his anger stems from his failed attempt to purchase the Buffalo Bills in 2014. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “He’s trying to destroy us,” the owner revealed. “He’s trying to use race to divide the players and our fans. It’s all over a grudge.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Trump’s attacks began to increase in September when he said players who kneel should be fired, calling them “sons of b*tches.” The attack received widespread backlash and prompted even more players to ban together in protest against Trump. However, the attacks didn’t end there, they continued week by week with attacks as recent as Tuesday. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ On Wednesday, the league made their own efforts to end the movement. According to Bleacher Report, the league has made a proposal to players to contribute “at least $89 million over a seven-year period” to causes in African-American communities in an effort to halt the protests.

The baller, who has been deemed the “greatest basketball player on the planet,” agreed with the notion that league owners are blackballing the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “I love football, but I’m not part of the NFL. I don’t represent the NFL,” James said, according to Dave McMenamin of ESPN. “I don’t know their rules and regulations. But I do know Kap is getting a wrongdoing, I do know that. Just watching, he’s an NFL player. He’s an NFL player and you see all these other quarterbacks out there and players out there that get all these second and third chances that are nowhere near as talented as him. It just feels like he’s been blackballed out of the NFL. So, I definitely do not respect that.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ According to Bleacher Report, since Kaepernick opted out of his contract with the Niners earlier this year, 42 other quarterbacks have signed contracts. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “The only reason I could say he’s not on a team is because the way he took a knee. That’s the only reason,” James said of Kaepernick’s protest of police brutality during the national anthem. The movement began during the 2016 NFL preseason and has since expanded throughout different sports and continued through the 2017-18 season, despite Kaepernick’s unemployment. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “I watch football every Sunday, every Thursday, every Monday night. I see all these quarterbacks – first-string, second –team, third-team quarterbacks-that play sometimes when the starter gets hurt or are starters that play. Kap is better than a lot of those guys. Some time during Waters’ address, she led the crowd in a “Impeach 45!” chant after picking apart his behavior throughout his presidency. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “Donald Trump is the most dishonorable and despicable human being to ever serve in the office of the president” Waters said, receiving a standing ovation and applause in return. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “This is a man with no good values, no good intentions and no good respect,” she continued. “That’s why I know we must keep fighting, and that women must lead this resistance. We cannot afford to be shut down or shut up by any man, particularly not one as indecent and deplorable as Donald Trump.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “Keep your hands off our backs and our goddamn bodies,” she continued as the crowd roared. “I want you to know how thrilled I was to participate in the January Women’s March. It was not a protest. It was a movement that was founded by and for women from all walks of life who are very concerned with the future and direction of this country. I walked and I talked and I laughed and I cried and I saw those pussycats-and I went crazy,” Waters said of the January’s Women’s March, which was organized by the same leaders who spearheaded the Women’s Convention.

Alive, Children, and Family: Let's Talk: Why Is It Important For Blacks In High Positions To Stand Up For Their People? @balleralert Let’s Talk: Why Is It Important For Blacks In High Positions To Stand Up For Their People? - blogged by @peachkyss ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You would think that in 2017, the slave mentality of some people wouldn’t be present. Well, guess what? It’s here and it’s up to us to stand up for our rights. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We can protest as much as we like but there are some people in this society that don’t give a damn how blacks feel. Everyday we are constantly reminded that our opinions don’t have any type of substance and we are tired. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ There are so many black people that are in higher positions that have a platform to stand up for us as a whole but refuse to do so. I’m sick and tired of hearing, “I don’t want to lose my sponsors” or “This is my job and I have to do what I’m told.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This is pure BS! That’s slave mentality. You like being mistreated by “the people” at the top. Our ancestors did not care whether they had a job to fulfill or not. They spoke up every chance they got and we must do the same. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We cannot let this celebrity in chief continue to degrade us and treating this country as a damn dictatorship. This country is supposed to be moving forward but we keep getting knocked backwards. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you have a platform speak up. Your children, significant others, and family are looking up to you for guidance and support. Don’t let them down by being silent.
