Not allowing generic brands to be produced by other companies. Government regulations is the reason it cost so much. Kinda fucked up because insulin is pathetically easy to make. Modified bacteria do all the heavy lifting.

The government ( FDA ) has allowed only 5 companies approved production rights of insulin/diabete drugs. Not allowing generic brands to be produced by other companies. Government regulations is the reason it cost so much.
