This is what she wanted,” said Tanya Morton, Dashai's grandmother. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ With the support of her family and school, Dashai launched the “Project Give Back 500” initiative to gather water for residents of the U.S. territory. In just two weeks, Morton reached her goal and managed to collect other non-perishable food items and blankets. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ “It makes me happy because I can help other people who don’t have what I have,” Morton said. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Considering her major success, the 12-year-old plans to continue collecting water and other items through the month of October. Her school has also partnered with Red Cross to get the supplies to Puerto Rico.
