Even if people come to see them nearly everyday, its better then being kicked out of their habitat eventually by man. The funds from zoos are often used to feed the animals anyway (most zoos are non profit they cant use that money for people) if you pay to go to the zoo you are paying to keep those animals alive Zoos also educate people about animals, allowing for people to fall in love with the weird and wonderful. They help promote habitat preservation and putting a stop to poaching. Please don’t dismiss zoos, they’re not the same places as they used to be in the 1800s, or even the mid 1900s. So while Zoos are absolutely miles better than they were historical, there are still many serious issues. In terms of education, while I totally get why most people believe that zoos teach people (children especially) about how to protect animals and their habitats and are great places of education, this is not actually the case. In reality viewing captive animals in zoos only teaches people how animals react to boredom, depression, and stress in captive situations. The most effective methods of education in zoos come via presenting videos, documentaries, interactive modules, graphic displays, and computer simulations. which all show animals in their natural environments and do not require any animals to actually be kept in zoos. In terms of the work Zoos to in regards to species conservation and habitat preservation, zoos really are not effective, especially compared to other conservation and preservation work. While there are zoos that do good conservation work, most of the significant conservation work is not from zoos but other organizations that work with wildlife and natural habitats. Most animals in captivity are not even classified as endangered, with the priority of Zoos being in getting hold of animals popular with visitors, rather than those who face extinction. When it comes to breeding programs (and breeding animals in captivity aren’t the best way to help in conservation)   zoos do spend plenty of money on these programs however half of the animals being bred by Zoos are not classed as endangered in the wild and 25% are not threatened species but ones popular with visitors. It’s also actually massively more expensive to keep animals captive in zoos than to protect equivalent numbers of them in the wild! When it comes to the research, few Zoos actually support meaningful scientific research (with fewer employing scientists with full-time research jobs) and of those that do employ scientists its common for these scientists to study free-living animals rather than those within the zoo. Due to the nature of any research that does take place in zoos, the results of this research also generates little information about how to best conserve species in the wild as studies of captive animals have limited benefits to animals in the wild and animals brought up in captivity are less likely to survive in the wild if reintroduced as they often don’t have the natural behaviors needed for survival in the wild. More effective methods of habitat preservation and species conservations would be a multipronged approach tackling habitat loss and climate change, investing in conservation programs in the wild, education, working with local communities, seriously addressing poaching etc. and also to move away from the Zoo model towards more ethical and effective models of species conservation.  Just a few of the other ethical issues with Zoos include surplus animals, who, when grow older, and are less attractive to patrons, will often be sold or killed. Animals who breed frequently also are sometimes sold to game farms and ranches where hunters pay to kill them and other surplus animals are sometimes sold to roadside zoos,, private individuals, animal dealers, or to laboratories for experimentation purposes. The animals not sold often end up being fed to other zoo animals. In terms of the health of these captive animals, many develop health conditions and mental health problems such as Zoochosis. Of course, a major problem with zoos as well is that the animals who live there are kept in enclosures that don’t allow them to live their lives in a natural way and don’t compare with the natural habitat the animals were meant to be in. Zoo animals have to spend day after day, week after week, year after year in the exact same enclosure. This makes their lives very monotonous. Take elephants, for example, elephants in the wild, are used to traveling many miles a day in herds of about ten related adults and their offspring but in zoos are usually kept in pairs or even isolated in incredibly small enclosures compared to what they are used to in the wild. Elephants kept in zoos often show many signs of being mental distress and the average lifespan of elephants in zoos is around 16-18 years, instead of the 50-70 years they can live in the wild. I’m just going to copy paste your response when people ask me what I’m going to school for. I’m very pro zoo and I want animals in their natural habitat just as much. This is genuinely quite an interesting discussion.

Ass, Children, and Girls: tenaflyviper Tumblr has always been one of the most poorly-run sites I've ever seen. It has been the laughingstock of the internet for YEARS be- cause of this. @staff, I'm gonna lay this down right now: In making this latest decision, you have not made the site any safer, especially when a lot of the "harm to minors" around here comes from users' piss-poor treatment of each other that you've always turned a blind eye to. You have not made it more appealing to investors, especially because you'll be forcing content creators out in droves, thus leaving behind pretty much only the previously-mentioned piss-poor behavior. Do you honestly believe focusing on tags is going to work? And what do you propose to do when people simply stop using tags, or come up with alternative ones? Focusing on links? We've been sending links to each other's inboxes right under your noses for years-we just replace a few dots with commas, and your system misses it. Well, you've just screwed over a lot of people looking for support on Patreon or trying to start fundraisers for their injured pets. Your staff is so collossally inept that every attempt you've ever made to rectify these issues has caused loss of site function, and massive backlash from the user base. Crips, Jail, and Kanye: EXCLUSIVE MUG SHOT DAZ DILLINGER FACING 13 FELONY CHARGES AFTER HOME DRUG BUST 9/26/18 2:49 PM PST 287 COMMENTS STORY via TMZ - Daz Dillinger got busted for allegedly having a bunch of weed in his Georgia home ... and now he's facing multiple felony charges. Tha Dogg Pound rapper was arrested Tuesday just before midnight at his place in Powder Springs - about 20 miles outside the ATL. Cops say they found a total of 117 grams of marijuana in his residence ... including in several cigarillo packets and a green mason jar. Daz allegedly also had 10 THC pods, THC oil, a THC vaporizer ... and a container in his home studio labeled "Cannabis Lean." Cops say the label on the bottle described it as a grape drink laced with cannabis. He was hauled off to jail in Cobb Country, where he was booked on 12 counts of possession of a controlled substance, and 1 count of possession of more than one ounce of marijuana. Daz's bond's set at $15k. We're told he's still in jail, waiting to see the judge. You may recall ... Dillinger had some different issues with police back in early May, after he put a call out to the Crips to "f**k Kanye up" over his favorable comments about President Trump. Daz claimed cops hassled him over the Kanye threat and we were told they were looking into it ... but it was eventually deemed no big deal. ( via @tmz_tv )

Lisa Edelstein is Jewish.  As are Idina Menzel and Amy Winehouse, both of whom I have seen compared in looks to Gothel.  Gothel’s design is a pretty clear caricature of ethnically Jewish women.
This is a pretty good contrast between Rapunzel and Gothel.  Rapunzel has the “typical Disney face”:

Apart from just the design of Gothel, there’s also the whole: “obviously ‘other’ (read Jewish) woman kidnaps the pretty blonde (read: gentile) kid to use her for ritualistic/magical purposes”
Like that right there on top of the aesthetic Jewish-coding is what pushed the antisemitic caricature over the top for me.  It harkens back to antisemitic blood libel that claimed that Jews stole gentile children for all manner of nefarious reasons. The government settled out of court and openly admitted their wrongdoing as part of the settlement. </p> <p>I will repeat; the 3D printing and manufacture of firearms was <i>never</i> illegal in the US, only the international distribution of the files themselves. Even the distribution of the files within US borders and possession of the files themselves are all and were all legal. </p> </blockquote> <p>I have no issues with people owning guns legally but I don’t think I’m ok with them being able to print a gun. </p> </blockquote> <p style="">Would you be willing to explain why?</p> </blockquote> <p>See, my reasons only make sense to me and the environment I grew up in but I don’t see a reason for an individual to be able to make a gun whenever they want. I know most probably won’t do anything illegal with the gun but I also think the gun might not be safe to use…I have never used a 3D gun or know much about them so they could be perfectly safe to use. </p> </blockquote> <p>Generally, polymer is a less than stellar material to make a gun out of; that’s why the Liberator is basically a single-shot low-power gun. It’s a proof of concept to show it Can Be Done and thereby challenge the idea of controlling ownership of firearms as a whole.</p> <p>Since it has been adjudicated that code (and files) are themselves a form of speech; sharing that “speech” in an open forum is, by default, legal and protected.</p> <p>The issue is, people (for a variety of reasons) already DO make untracable firearms, from 80% lowers, from raw stock, from scrap metal, etc. They’re rarely if ever used in criminal activities, mostly because criminals can just buy an illegal (but legitimately manufactured) firearm either which were illegally purchased themselves, stolen, or gotten thanks to programs like ATFs Fast and Furious and other gunwalking schemes.</p> </blockquote> <p>as for fears about criminals building untraceable guns, they can almost certainly do it better for cheaper with scrap metal &amp; metal working shop tools. 3d printers arent cheap &amp; polymer guns dont last, as <a class="tumblelog" href="https://tmblr.co/miMjDZnDWnZqZODmSVuibaw">@kasaron</a> has already noted. assuming that they dont just buy black market factory made guns, which are much better quality for much less effort.</p> <p>&amp; some people have this ridiculously idea that a polymer gun is totally undetectable by security scanners &amp; can be taken ANYWHERE. yeah, they arent, &amp; they still require metal bullets.</p> </blockquote> <p>Anyone who’s worried about 3d printed guns has <b>NEVER </b>actually had or used a 3d printer. I’ve got 5 of them, ranging from $300 chinese DIY kits to $4500 “prosumer” fully assembled devices, and not a single one can make a gun that I’d be willing to fire with any form of reliability or safety. The tolerances and durability just aren’t there. </p> <p>The best I could make would be that Liberator up there and the chances that it might just explode in my hand on the first shot aren’t low. </p> <p>The people who’ve made the fully functional AR lowers aren’t doing it using a 3D printer you can just buy off the shelf, they’d using industrial grade SLA resin printers that <b>START</b> in the 5 figures and if you want the metal additive printers you’re not walking away without spending 6 figures. At that price point they can just buy metal working equipment and make real metal guns by the dozen in the time it would take to print a single gun. </p> <p>Now: I can’t speak for the future, 3d printers might change, but the direction they’re moving in now does not lend to making guns in the least bit; and stifling the entire branch of technology out of idiotic fear of a possibility is the last thing we need to do.</p> <p>Also: THERE’S ALREADY OVER 300 MILLION GUNS IN THE US AND IT WOULD BE WAY EASIER AND CHEAPER TO JUST BUY/STEAL ONE OF THOSE THAN PRINT ONE. </p> </blockquote> <p>This is what I’m saying. The school I work at has a 3-D printer and by no means would it be capable of making a gun you would want to use. Not only would trying to prevent the program from being downloaded be an enormous waste of time, most criminals wouldn’t even be bothered with it when there are much easier ways to get a gun.</p>

<p>That adjudication resulted in the government (and ITAR specifically) being sued by Cody Wilson. The government settled out of court and openly admitted their wrongdoing as part of the settlement. </p>
<p>I will repeat; the 3D printing and manufacture of firearms was <i>never</i> illegal in the US, only the international distribution of the files themselves. Even the distribution of the files within US borders and possession of the files themselves are all and were all legal. </p>

<p>I have no issues with people owning guns legally but I don’t think I’m ok with them being able to print a gun. </p>
</blockquote>
<p style="">Would you be willing to explain why?</p>
</blockquote>

<p>See, my reasons only make sense to me and the environment I grew up in but I don’t see a reason for an individual to be able to make a gun whenever they want. I know most probably won’t do anything illegal with the gun but I also think the gun might not be safe to use…I have never used a 3D gun or know much about them so they could be perfectly safe to use. </p>

<p>Generally, polymer is a less than stellar material to make a gun out of; that’s why the Liberator is basically a single-shot low-power gun. It’s a proof of concept to show it Can Be Done and thereby challenge the idea of controlling ownership of firearms as a whole.</p>
<p>Since it has been adjudicated that code (and files) are themselves a form of speech; sharing that “speech” in an open forum is, by default, legal and protected.</p>
<p>The issue is, people (for a variety of reasons) already DO make untracable firearms, from 80% lowers, from raw stock, from scrap metal, etc. They’re rarely if ever used in criminal activities, mostly because criminals can just buy an illegal (but legitimately manufactured) firearm either which were illegally purchased themselves, stolen, or gotten thanks to programs like ATFs Fast and Furious and other gunwalking schemes.</p>
</blockquote>
<p>as for fears about criminals building untraceable guns, they can almost certainly do it better for cheaper with scrap metal &amp; metal working shop tools. 3d printers arent cheap &amp; polymer guns dont last, as <a class="tumblelog" href="https://tmblr.co/miMjDZnDWnZqZODmSVuibaw">@kasaron</a> has already noted. assuming that they dont just buy black market factory made guns, which are much better quality for much less effort.</p>
<p>&amp; some people have this ridiculously idea that a polymer gun is totally undetectable by security scanners &amp; can be taken ANYWHERE. yeah, they arent, &amp; they still require metal bullets.</p>
</blockquote>
<p>Anyone who’s worried about 3d printed guns has <b>NEVER </b>actually had or used a 3d printer. I’ve got 5 of them, ranging from $300 chinese DIY kits to $4500 “prosumer” fully assembled devices, and not a single one can make a gun that I’d be willing to fire with any form of reliability or safety. The tolerances and durability just aren’t there. </p>
<p>The best I could make would be that Liberator up there and the chances that it might just explode in my hand on the first shot aren’t low. </p>
<p>The people who’ve made the fully functional AR lowers aren’t doing it using a 3D printer you can just buy off the shelf, they’d using industrial grade SLA resin printers that <b>START</b> in the 5 figures and if you want the metal additive printers you’re not walking away without spending 6 figures. At that price point they can just buy metal working equipment and make real metal guns by the dozen in the time it would take to print a single gun. </p>
<p>Now: I can’t speak for the future, 3d printers might change, but the direction they’re moving in now does not lend to making guns in the least bit; and stifling the entire branch of technology out of idiotic fear of a possibility is the last thing we need to do.</p>
<p>Also: THERE’S ALREADY OVER 300 MILLION GUNS IN THE US AND IT WOULD BE WAY EASIER AND CHEAPER TO JUST BUY/STEAL ONE OF THOSE THAN PRINT ONE. </p>

<p>This is what I’m saying. The school I work at has a 3-D printer and by no means would it be capable of making a gun you would want to use. Not only would trying to prevent the program from being downloaded be an enormous waste of time, most criminals wouldn’t even be bothered with it when there are much easier ways to get a gun.</p>
