America, Muslim, and Wow: AA Q The Atheist Muslim In countries where Muslims are a minority, Islam is an identity. In countries where Muslims are a majority, Islam is a religion. This dichotomy has consequences for liberals on either side. For the liberal in North America, Islam is the faith of a small minority of Muslims who are often discriminated against and whose rights must be protected, as with any minority group. But for the liberal in a Muslim-majority country, Islam is a tool the government uses to justify censorship, oppression, and other illiberal values, like forcing women to wear the hijab, persecuting homosexuals, and publicly lashing bloggers. The same holy book that Muslims in the United States and elsewhere revere as divine and peaceful is used by the governments of Muslim-majority countries to endorse every- thing from domestic violence to the execution of apostates. The hijab worn proudly by Muslim-American women who choose it as a symbol of their identity is forced on women in many Muslim- majority countries by their governments, imams, or husbands. And many criticisms of Islamic doctrine made by liberal reformers and dissidents in Muslim-majority countries are labeled "Islamophobic" when voiced here It's easy to see how this can get very confusing very fast. In their well-intentioned effort to protect what they see as a targeted minori- ty, Western liberals unwittingly find themselves fighting to guard and protect the same backward values that their counterparts in Muslim-majority countries are fighting against. Memes, Iraqi, and 🤖: FORMER MARINE FLEESIRAQ AFTER FACEB00K WARNINGABOUTIRAQIREFUGEES GOES VIRAL VETERANS COME FIRST "THEY SAID THELOCALS WOULD SNATCH ME UP AND KILL ME WITHIN AN HOUR, IDBETORTURED FIRST AND AFTER THEY WOULD GO ON VIDEO FOR EVERYONE TO SEE AS AN EXAMPLE." LIKE IF YOU SUPPORT TRUMPSBANON MUSLIMS A former U.S. Marine who works as a private security contractor in Iraq had to flee the country after his Facebook post warning of the dangers Americans face in the tumultuous country went viral. Steven Gern's video, which was posted from Iraq and has been viewed more than 44 million times, came just a few days after President Trump's executive order triggered massive protests at U.S. airports. Gern relayed a short message about conversations he had about the controversial order with Iraqis. He said he asked them what would happen if he, an American, "went out in town." "They said the locals would snatch me up and kill me within an hour," said Gern. "I'd be tortured first, and after they were done torturing me, I'd probably be beheaded. It would go on video for everyone to see as an example." Full video: https:-www.facebook.com-steven.gern-posts-10154152514275404 I encourage all the Americans to listen to the wise words of the Marine, who knows firsthand what the "Eastern hospitality" is. Liberal hysteria arranged against Trump's order is baseless. Those countries that come under Trump's order are known for their hatred towards America. During September 11 eve, more than 80% of the population of Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia and Iran, according to polls, expressed enthusiastic support to terrorists, and rejoiced at deaths of Americans. Many people in the Middle East are responsible for the deaths of the US citizens, which is why they can not come to the United States. veteranscomefirst veterans_us Veterans Usveterans veteransUSA SupportVeterans Politics USA America Patriots Gratitude HonorVets thankvets supportourtroops semperfi USMC USCG USAF Navy Army military godblessourmilitary soldier holdthegovernmentaccountable RememberEveryoneDeployed Usflag StarsandStripes
