Asian, Club, and Doctor: avatarik Why l feel Doctor Who is not about equality anymore I have been a fan since I was 12. Back then it never mattered to me if some characters were black or allen or gay because the show made it seem normal. The show treated everyone equally regardless of their appearances and it didn't even occur to me that that may not be everyday behaviour. As I became older I grew to admire the series ability to normalize all sorts of difterent characters However, the newest episodes are just too much. My problem lies within the writers' eageness to show how progressive and including they are. They try as hard as they can not only to have as many gay and black characters as possible but also to shove them in the audience's faces until it becomes blatantly obvious what they're trying to pull Of. The only thing they achieve that way is to make the audience pay attention to things they normally wouldn't care for For example when I first saw the new companion-Bill, I wouldn't have batted an eyelash at her for being both black and gay if it weren't for her constantly reminding the audience of it. There isn't an episode passing by without her mentioning slavery, her sexual orientation, how poor she is and how cruel everyone is. It's come to the point where I believe the only personaity traits written under her character in the script were "queer, "easily offended and 'a person of colour. Is this really the way to go? How would you normalize something by purposely pointing it out all the time? I just watched the first 20 minutes of episode 4 so I'm gonna give an example from it Mine went greypacking on the Great Wall Of China with his boyfriend Here this guy talks abot his grandpa who's gay and I consider this just a harmless fleeting comment if not a weird one because - grandpa? cmon It's just, Itend to go for giris, usually, sO... Here we have Bill turn down this guy Paul and that's perfectly fine because she has every right to do so. What drew my attention was that in 10 minutes they mentioned gays twice without it being relevant to the plot in any way. (maybe just a little relevant because we need to know Paul's into girls so that other girl who's supposed to be into him could say he's expendable without us judging her later. JK still Irrelevant) But those are some minor things compared to this one There are 6 people living it one house- Bill, an Indian girl, an Asian gir, a guy named Pavel so I'm assuming he represents the Slavic minority, a guy that keeps stuttering so I'm guessing he represents people with anxiety issues and Paul a basic tall blond guy. When they hear a strange noise they are too afraid to go investigate so the shorter guy suggests Paul go since he's of the heaviest build. And then this girl adds: Really? So everyone is equaly important unless you're a white cis male? I guess what I'm trying to say is -don't try to tun everything into SJW propaganda. Doctor Who was fighting for equallity long before SJWs were even born and it doesn't need to adopt their hateful ways. I feel like it's stirring things up more than peacefully promoting equality <p><a href="http://laughoutloud-club.tumblr.com/post/162602491157/why-i-fell-doctor-who-is-not-about-equality" class="tumblr_blog">laughoutloud-club</a>:</p> <blockquote><p>Why I fell Doctor Who is not about equality anymore</p></blockquote>

Why l feel Doctor Who is not
 about equality anymore
I have been a fan since I was 12. Back then it never mattered to me if some
characters were black or allen or gay because the show made it seem normal.
The show treated everyone equally regardless of their appearances and it didn't
even occur to me that that may not be everyday behaviour. As I became older I
grew to admire the series ability to normalize all sorts of difterent characters
However, the newest episodes are just too much. My problem lies within the
writers' eageness to show how progressive and including they are. They try as
hard as they can not only to have as many gay and black characters as possible
but also to shove them in the audience's faces until it becomes blatantly obvious
what they're trying to pull Of. The only thing they achieve that way is to make the
audience pay attention to things they normally wouldn't care for For example
when I first saw the new companion-Bill, I wouldn't have batted an eyelash at
her for being both black and gay if it weren't for her constantly reminding the
audience of it. There isn't an episode passing by without her mentioning slavery,
her sexual orientation, how poor she is and how cruel everyone is. It's come to
the point where I believe the only personaity traits written under her character in
the script were "queer, "easily offended and 'a person of colour. Is this really
the way to go? How would you normalize something by purposely pointing it out
 all the time?
I just watched the first 20 minutes of episode 4 so I'm gonna give an example
 from it
Mine went greypacking on the Great
Wall Of China with his boyfriend
Here this guy talks abot his grandpa who's gay and I consider this just a
harmless fleeting comment if not a weird one because - grandpa? cmon
 It's just, Itend to go
 for giris, usually, sO...
Here we have Bill turn down this guy Paul
and that's perfectly fine because she has every right to do so. What drew my
attention was that in 10 minutes they mentioned gays twice without it being
relevant to the plot in any way. (maybe just a little relevant because we need to
know Paul's into girls so that other girl who's supposed to be into him could say
he's expendable without us judging her later. JK still Irrelevant)
But those are some minor things compared to this one
There are 6 people living it one house- Bill, an Indian girl, an Asian gir, a guy
named Pavel so I'm assuming he represents the Slavic minority, a guy that
keeps stuttering so I'm guessing he represents people with anxiety issues and
Paul a basic tall blond guy. When they hear a strange noise they are too afraid
to go investigate so the shorter guy suggests Paul go since he's of the heaviest
build. And then this girl adds:
Really? So everyone is equaly important unless you're a white cis male?
I guess what I'm trying to say is -don't try to tun everything into SJW
propaganda. Doctor Who was fighting for equallity long before SJWs were even
born and it doesn't need to adopt their hateful ways. I feel like it's stirring things
up more than peacefully promoting equality

We’re supposed to just believe your interpretation? I’d definitely need to know a lot more about Coco before casting judgment. </p> <p>And Book of Life came out in 2014, if Coco was in pre-production at 2013 it could easily have been passed over for the fact that they already had an in house story to represent that market, and we all know full well that Disney likes to go through a different cultural story/background for each feature film as part of their longstanding tradition. </p> <p>Even if you want to assume the worst and that their motives were bad and that they’re some evil megacorporation, which you can surely be entitled to think I’m not going to say Disney is amazing and doesn’t have a horrible history- at the very least they are finally making non-white movies. Boycotting the very content we have been begging for for ages isn’t going to get us anywhere, it’s just going to make that content that we asked for unable to turn a profit and therefore impossible to create and sustain a business with. We can’t expect people to make content and not support themselves on it as well, they need to make money to be viable sources of income to sustain the business. If this film doesn’t make money all Disney is going to know is that they can’t make feature films about Latino stories/cultures/etc because it won’t sell.</p> </blockquote> <p>Why are y'all always doing this shit? Seriously why? I’m beginning to think that you secretly don’t want any diversity at all because any attempt at it is never enough for you. You boycott The Great Wall because it had ONE white dude on the poster. Never mind the primarily Asian cast. Never mind the CHINESE director. You made it clear that you weren’t the least bit interested in Asian made films with Asian actors as long as there was a white guy anywhere within 5000 feet of it. Then you flip shit about TGITS. Never mind the fact that Major isn’t even a freaking human. Since it was from an anime she had to be Japanese. Never mind the fact that plenty of animes are actually depicting white people. Never mind the fact that TGITS fans from Japan loved the idea of Scarlet Johansen playing the lead. Never mind the fact that it brought attention to a well-made anime classic. Just wah wah boycott because we know what Japanese people should be offended by better than they do. Maui was too big, something something Polynesian stereotypes. Honey Lemon can’t be Latino! She’s not brown enough and she doesn’t run around making tacos and screaming “ay dios mio!” all the time! The Princess and the Frog girl was going to be named Maddie but no we can’t have that because it sounds vaguely like the word “Mammie” if you have absolutely no idea how English works.</p><p>You claim you want diversity and then you absolutely dissect and destroy anything that attempts it. You refuse to be satisfied with anything because any attempt at diversity will not be quite right for you. You claim to speak on behalf of other cultures because apparently you don’t think that they are smart enough to speak for themselves.</p><p>Well speaking as a female minority, stop it. I’m sick of this crap. I don’t need you to speak for me and tell me what I need to be offended by. I don’t need you to stop people from enjoying every damn thing because you love being bitter so much. You are destroying the hard work of minority creators and great strides in cultural sensitivity and awareness because you’re happier if everyone stays separate and hating each other. You’re as disgusting with your stereotypes as the racists you claim to hate.</p>
