Bad, Feminism, and Memes: ls it Racist? Racism is... Systemic oppression Reinforced by society Harmful to a group of people Based on history of power, oppression, and inequality Racism is not... Simply about hurt feelings x Only an issue of being offended Just a rude statement based on racial bias Reverse racism is not real. The sociological definition of racism is power+prejudice; thus you can be prejudiced against someone, but without systemic power, it's not "racism" (it is still bad and wrong obviously). We use the sociological definition of racism, since sociologists study society and things like racism and discrimination πŸ™‚ same reason we use scientific definitions for scientific phenomena and not just default to a basic general dictionary definition. If you are white and this upsets you, please think about history and the evolution of society. No one is saying white people have easy lives with no problems or that things are handed to you...just that racism is a SYSTEMIC issue that has to do with who has and has previously had power. And that ending slavery doesn't automatically make everyone equal. It's pretty easy to see that racism is still hugely prevalent today (look at the recent events in Charlottesville, the way people talk about people who are Muslim, the rhetoric around immigration, or anything Trump has ever said about any minority), so instead of debating about whether or not it was racist when a person of color was mean to you, why not focus on fixing these systemic issues and making the world a more equitable place for ALL people πŸ™ƒπŸ™ƒπŸ™ƒπŸ™ƒ. (Also I generally don't like turning off comments but things get hella messy whenever I post about racism, particularly reverse racism - I am assuming this is from people who follow me and are younger, maybe that live in mostly white areas and don't interact with POC and have never thought about racism??? - or y'all are just racist in which cause pls unfollow because feminism is not only about white women πŸ™„)

Beautiful, Booty, and Cute: I love this woman and her curvy body. as a teenager, I was often teased by my friends for my attraction to girls on the thicker side, ones w γƒŸγ‚Ήγ‚ΏγƒΌι»’ηŒ« mr kuronekocafe || I love this woman and her curvy body. As a teenager, I was often teased by my friends for my attraction to girls on the thicker side, ones who were shorter and curvier, girls that the average (basic) bro might refer to as "chubby" or even "fat." Then, as I became a man and started to educate myself on issues such as feminism and how the media marginalizes women by portraying a very narrow and very specific standard of beauty (thin, tall, lean) I realized how many men have bought into that lie. For me, there is nothing sexier than this woman right here: thick thighs, big booty, cute little side roll, etc. Her shape and size won't be the one featured on the cover of Cosmopolitan but it's the one featured in my life and in my heart. There's nothing sexier to me than a woman who is both curvy and confident; this gorgeous girl I married fills out every inch of her jeans and is still the most beautiful one in the room. Guys, rethink what society has told you that you should desire. A real woman is not a porn star or a bikini mannequin or a movie character. She's real. She has beautiful stretch marks on her hips and cute little dimples on her booty. Girls, don't ever fool yourself by thinking you have to fit a certain mold to be loved and appreciated. There is a guy out there who is going to celebrate you for exactly who you are, someone who will love you like I love my Sarah. || photo cred: @savinthebees

Anaconda, Bad, and Feminism: Early Feminists: Oh hey, we see that you can vote. We would like to vote also. I mean, since most of those laws effect us too and all Me YOU JUST WANT SUPERIORITY OVER MEN! Mid-century Feminists: Hey, that whole thing about how you can have careers and earn a living wage outside the home? Yes that sounds nice, we'd 1ike the option to do that as well. Men: YOU WANT A MATRIARCHY, THAT'S WHAT YOU WANT! Late 20th century Feminists: Hey we would like to make our own choices about ou reproductive health, just like you've always had. Men YOU ARE TRYING TO TAKE MEN'S RIGHTS AWAY! Modern-day feminists: Hey, if you could you stop sexually assaulting/harassing us and then blaming us for it, that'd be pretty great. Men: THIS IS MISANDRY, MISANDRY I SAY! FEMINISTS HAVE GONE TOO FAR! Feminists: Um Men: THE END OF MEN IS NIGH MALE OPPRESSION IS REAL! THE MATRIARCHAL AGE IS UPON US! Repost from @galaxyfeminism Β· and yes obviously *not all men* are like this, this is talking about those who are & how the feminist movement has continuously been met with opposition and hate. That's why it is frustrating when people now say "I support early feminist movements but I hate what feminism is now." That means "when it was explicitly stated in the law that women had fewer rights, that was bad, but now that women can vote and own land they just need to stop complaining about other sexist things because some women in other countries can't even vote!!!1!" Saying you have gender equality because women in your country have more rights than women in other countries is like saying you did well on the test because you got a 50% but some people got a 30% so it's okay. Strive for 100%. Let's hold ourselves to a higher standard than defining equality as "it's not explicitly stated that you don't have certain rights (*except in certain cases where local laws do restrict access to birth control-bodily autonomy or try to ban trans people from bathrooms or try to restrict rights of LGTBQ+ people)." Equality under the law doesn't necessarily result in actual equal treatment, whether you're looking at discrimination based on race, religion, gender, class, sexuality, etc. This is especially noticeable regarding race and the treatment of black people in the US, as when slavery became illegal the prison system became an institution that essentially legalized slavery (if you are not familiar with this, watch "13th" or Google "why the us prison system is legalized slavery"). And just because something is legal doesn't mean it's ethical, let's not pretend the government is the epitome of morality πŸ™ƒπŸ™ƒπŸ™ƒπŸ™ƒπŸ™ƒ
