Arguing, Life, and Logic: pokpok of color @catharticwords If you think a woman can only have an abortion if she was raped, youre saying a woman has to be violated before she has rights to her body L1 desisupremacy Repost from @desisupremacy: "(TW: rape mention, abortion) Here are my two cents on this reasoning that I've been thinking lately. So most anti-choicers have at least accepted that it is acceptable for a rape victim to have an abortion. Regardless of who gets an abortion, you are still preventing the formation of a potential child. So the common anti-choice argument of "killing an innocent baby" fails with this logic. In other words, if an anti-choicer can accept a rape victim getting an abortion, they clearly are not as concerned about the fetus' life as they claim. They are against people with a uterus who CHOSE to have sex. They believe that because a woman (or a person considered as a woman in a cisnormative society) is paying a punishment for consenting to sex when she-he-they get pregnant, and that said pregnant person should be forced to undergo this consequence of consenting to sex. With that said, I call bullshit on most (key word) anti-choicers "concern for the child" and really just link their opinion on abortion to their hatred of female sexuality. They can't argue against the vulnerability of a rape survivor so they accept the survivor getting an abortion, but a person who got pregnant from consensual sex is "selfish and immoral" and should therefore be punished by controlling their bodily autonomy. ~S"

America, Bernie Sanders, and Beyonce: Obama Named 'Most Admired Man' Again, Beats Out Trump @balleralert Obama Named 'Most Admired Man' Again, Beats Out Trump - blogged by: @ashleytearra ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Former President BarackObama has been named the 'most admired man' for the tenth year in a row, according to a poll released by Gallup News. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Earlier in the month, Gallup surveyed 1,049 adults, asking which man and woman in the United States of America they admired most. This past Wednesday, those results were revealed. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ While Trump came in at 14%, Obama took the leading spot, sitting at 17% and beating Trump out by 3% in the men's poll. Hillary Clinton-who has held the 'most admired woman' title a total of 22 times, retained it for the 16th consecutive year, coming in at 9% to Michelle Obama's 7%. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ However, this happens to be Clinton's lowest percentage that she's received since 2002. Last year, she stood at 12%, while Barack Obama scored at 22%. But, although this year's percentage rates were relatively low, it's unquestionable that, even outside of the White House, everybody loves Obama! Obviously, that trumps all... even Mr. Trump, himself. No pun intended. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Pope Francis, Rev. Billy Graham, John McCain, Elon Musk, Bernie Sanders, Bill Gates, Benjamin Netanyahu, Jeff Bezos, The Dalai Lama, and Mike Pence followed Donald Trump in the poll. Falling behind Michelle Obama was Oprah Winfrey, Elizabeth Warren, Angela Merkel, Queen Elizabeth II, Condoleezza Rice, Melania Trump, Nikki Haley, Duchess Kate Middleton, and Beyoncé Knowles-Carter. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Trump had 35% of Republican voters who chose him as their most admired man. Obama led among Democrats, with 39% making him their top choice. Independents also elected Obama over Trump by a three-point margin.

Christmas, Cookies, and Family: A couple of months ago, when I told General Krulak, the former Commandant of the MarineCorps, now the chair of the NavalAcademy Board of Visitors, that we were having General JamesMattis speak this evening, he said, “Let me tell you a Jim Mattis story.” Gen. Krulak said, when he was Commandant of the Marine Corps, every year, starting about a week before Christmas, he and his wife would bake hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of Christmas cookies. They would package them in small bundles. Then on Christmas day, he would load his vehicle. At about 4 a.m., Gen. Krulak would drive himself to every Marine guard post in the Washington-Annapolis-Baltimore area and deliver a small package of Christmas cookies to whatever Marines were pulling guard duty that day. He said that one year, he had gone down to Quantico as one of his stops to deliver Christmas cookies to the Marines on guard duty. He went to the command center and gave a package to the lance corporal who was on duty. He asked, “Who’s the officer of the day?” The lance corporal said, “Sir, it’s Brigadier General Mattis.” And General Krulak said, “No, no, no. I know who Gen. Mattis is. I mean, who’s the officer of the day today, Christmas day?” The lance corporal, feeling a little anxious, said, “Sir, it is Brigadier General Mattis.” General Krulak said that, about that time, he spotted in the back room a cot, or a daybed. He said, “No, Lance Corporal. Who slept in that bed last night?” The lance corporal said, “Sir, it was Brigadier General Mattis.” About that time, General Krulak said that General Mattis came in, in a duty uniform with a sword, and General Krulak said, “Jim, what are you doing here on Christmas day? Why do you have duty?” General Mattis told him that the young officer who was scheduled to have duty on Christmas day had a family, and General Mattis decided it was better for the young officer to spend Christmas Day with his family, and so he chose to have duty on Christmas Day. General Krulak said, “That’s the kind of officer that Jim Mattis is.” (The story above was told by Dr. Albert C. Pierce, the Director of the Center for the Study of Pro. Memes, Respect, and Slick: 1312 SQ VETERAN Thank you. We Are Veterans - We've been called Grunts and Jarheads, Squids and Swabbies, Fly boys and G.I. These were not derogatory terms. These were term of endearment and respect between us. We were Trackers, Tankers, Artillery and Gunners, Fuelers, Mechanics, Pilots and Drivers. Some have seen the horrors of war, while others served between conflicts. There are those who have never heard a shot fired in anger, while others have had those angry shots fired at them. Stories of the scars are proclaimed loudly by some and talked about in muted conversation by others. There are those who have put it all behind them and those who wish they could forget and that the nightmares would stop. Whether their breast is covered with "fruit salad" or a single ribbon bar, the crossed rifles of an expert or the "toilet bowl" of a beginner. Our uniforms were all different. We had greens, blues, whites and cracker jacks. We either wore stripes or bars. Some had rockers while occasionally we seen a "slick sleeve" standing in fear a SGT Major with eight hash marks. Their epaulets were adorned with everything from "butter bars" to glistening in the sun with four stars - It don't matter in which branch they chose to serve, despite their MOS, whether or not they shed their blood for a cause greater than themselves, they (we) all share one common title, VETERAN. The eleventh day of the eleven month is set aside to honor those who have served. Those who answered a calling that not all have heard. Those who would lay down their lives if that is what it took - Those who wore a uniform that looked like the one worn by thousands of others before and after them. If you answered the call, wore the uniform, stood tall during colors and still shed a tear during the National Anthem, may I join millions of other Americans on this day and say, Thank You and Happy Veterans Day.

Advice, Be Like, and Goals: IIONAIREMENTOR MAKE IT A LIFESTYLE, NOT A DUTY Looking to build the ideal lifestyle? Read on… - The ideal lifestyle is possible. Everyone can live the way they want… and in fact, they do. Because the way you live now, regardless of whether you like it or not, is what you chose to live like. (Sorry if this makes you mad) 🌎 It’s about enjoying life more, doing what you love, becoming someone you can be proud of, doing things for others and actually spending more time with your loved ones, creating things, giving and sharing… and simply being happy and contented with every day of your life! DON’T WE ALL WANT THAT? Here are a few tips for you: ✔️DEFINE your ideal lifestyle. Ask yourself these two questions: “What do I want my life to be like?” and “Who do I want to be in it?.” Answer them in the best and most honest way possible, because this will be your definition of what you want in life and who you want to become, and will eventually become your reality after some time. (If you work towards it) ✔️Eliminate the unnecessary. Without doing this, you can’t go any further. Because there are many things in your life right now that are preventing you from moving on. ✔️Find your PASSION. This can happen by listening to your inner voice, focusing on the things you enjoy doing, and trying new things, and don’t worry, it will take time to find your true passion. ✔️Make your passion your PAYCHECK. Here things get a little harder as you’ll need to work on your passion as you’ve probably never worked before in your life. But the difference this time is that you’ll be doing something you love, so you can’t really call it working. ANYONE agrees? 😉 ✔️Give and be grateful. Giving is the best investment and can make you way more contented than buying new stuff. So be able to give as much as you can, be it advice, help, encouragement, stuff you don’t use and need. Even volunteering or give for charity. Also never forget to be grateful. Each step of this journey should go along with appreciation. - Love what you just read? Ass, Family, and Gym: Omari Hardwick and Lance Gross Open Up About Losing a Child @balleralert Omari Hardwick and Lance Gross Open Up About Losing a Child – blogged by @MsJennyb ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Earlier this week, LanceGross turned his camera on “Power” star OmariHardwick to discuss the importance of keeping the mind, body and spirit in a positive space. The two touched on Hardwick’s daily rituals and routines, family and fatherhood. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ According to ESSENCE, the two then went on to discuss a more personal issue, and how protecting one’s well-being can also compromise one’s career. Gross opened up the discussion, asking Hardwick if there was ever a time that he had to choose between a job or a person and his own well-being, to which he responded with a story about the devastating experience of losing a child. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “The sixth year of my working career as an actor, we were pregnant with my first child,” Omari revealed. “Filming [the movie] ‘Dark Blue,’ lying to ‘Kick Ass’ so that I could do both – and dealing with the baby sliding and not doing well.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “The doctors let us know, you know, that if it were them, they would have aborted and we chose not to,” he continued. “So, just riding that out for months in terms of like, not wanting to go to work and even having somebody secure enough and strong enough at home to say, ‘No, you have to go to work.’ And then it came to a place where we lost the baby. Ironically, the day that we delivered the baby, I was forced to work.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “It was the first moment, to me, where I was –this was a moment of anger at the industry,” he said, prompting Gross to share his own experience with dealing with the traumatic experience while working. “We lost a child and I remember getting the call from my wife in the middle of a scene, and I got the call from her and it did something. I felt like I should have been there,” Gross said. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “We learn how many people share those stories but nobody talks about them,” Hardwick added of the experience. He stated that he keeps his sanity through his marriage, the gym and writing amid the craziness of the world and his career.

Bad, Bad Boys, and Dating: Let's Talk: How Old Is Too Old To Be Dating a Drug Dealer or Gangster? @balleralert Let's Talk: How Old Is Too Old To Be Dating a Drug Dealer or Gangster? - blogged by @MsJennyb ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As women, we all go through stages in our lives where we date different “types” of men, from the bad boys to momma’s boys to broke boys and gangsters. But there comes a time where you have to give up a certain type of lifestyle to progress in the real world. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As a teen, dealing with a bad boy-drug dealer is fun and adventurous. Your man has money to blow; you’re able to live lavishly, flaunting designer bags and shoes, while your other teenaged friends work for their money. However, living life on the edge, without a care in the world is only fun while it lasts. As you get older, you realize that there is so much more to live for, and the dangers of dealing with a drug dealer or gangster isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be. What happens when you get caught in the crossfire of a dispute over an exchange? What happens when you get shot in retaliation over territory or just to send a message? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As women, we must be more aware of the red flags in a relationship. Dating drug dealers and gangsters should never be acceptable, because when they assume the risks, you become collateral damage. As women, we should set a higher standard on the type of men we date, because we deserve that much. A man should want to be better for you, rather than drag you into his illegitimate lifestyle. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ For instance, Falicia Blakely. She let her boyfriend convince her to start "hitting licks," now she is sitting in jail and her son is without a mother. Alice Jones was sentenced to 24 years in jail for a drug conspiracy because of a man she was involved with. There have been stories about young women who have had bright futures, and lost it all or their lives, because of the man they chose to deal with. When you reach a certain point in your life, you have to think your age. The drug dealer lifestyle is not only dangerous but you don’t want to live your life with regrets. Life is too short and I’m sure you want more from your life. Think and make sure you are living responsibly!

Donald Trump, Kobe Bryant, and Luke Walton: Kobe Bryant Says He Would Kneel During The Anthem If He Was Still Playing @balleralert Kobe Bryant Says He Would Kneel During The Anthem If He Was Still Playing – blogged by @MsJennyb ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Prior to the start of NBA preseason, the league released a memo to remind teams of the rule that requires players and coaches to stand during the national anthem. Since then, a few teams have announced that they would be protesting the national anthem by locking arms, while others revealed that they will not be participating in the protest at all. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ However, amid the ongoing controversy, Kobe Bryant says if he were still playing today, he would be kneeling during the national anthem, despite the league rule. The retired Los Angeles Laker player revealed his decision on Wednesday, on The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “Kneel,” Bryant said, when asked what he would do if faced with the decision. When asked what he would say if he could speak to Donald Trump, he said he’s advise the celebrity-in-chief to “focus on serving, not leading.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Bryant’s former team is one of many that have decided to lock arms during the anthem prior to the start of preseason games. The team’s coach discussed the decision last week saying, “We are in this together.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “I think they chose to show that we are united in this and that obviously they have a ton of respect… well, I will let them speak for themselves, but I have a ton of respect for the country, the flag, the military,” Luke Walton said. “But by locking arms, I feel like we are showing that there are issues in this country, and it is a chance for us to raise awareness and still make it a talking point. If you do nothing, then it kind of goes away, and if it goes away, then nothing changes.”
