arrogance: LOUIS TOMLINSON ON ONE DIRECTION'S HIATUS: IT WASN'T NECESSARILY A NICE CONVERSATION' NEWS It's been a year of huge, transformative — and at times, exceedingly painful — change for Louis Tomlinson. Now, Tomlinson's first major cover story since the 1D hiatus has dropped, and loads of real talk came with it regarding One Direction and how it's affected him as they rose to international superstardom before pressing the pause button in a big way. _ “[Niall Horan]'s the most lovely guy in the world,” he told The Guardian. “Happy-go-lucky Irish, no sense of arrogance. And he’s fearless. There are times I’ve thought: ‘I’d have a bit of that.’ Zayn, back in the day. He could relate to me on a nerves level. In the first year we were both the least confident. But Zayn has a fantastic voice and for him it was always about owning that. Liam always had a good stage presence, same as Harry, they’ve both got that ownership. Harry comes across very cool. Liam’s all about getting the crowd going, doing a bit of dancing ... And then there’s me.” _ Tomlinson is modest, as he's clearly got plenty to brag about — he's launched his own label and managed another band in addition to recording his solo stuff — but the One Direction situation is complicated, and he continued to unpack his role in the group and how that's shaped him as an artist. _ “It wasn’t necessarily a nice conversation. I could see where it was going,” he told The Guardian of the decision to go on hiatus. “If you’d asked me a year or 18 months ago, ‘Are you going to do anything as a solo artist?’ I’d have said absolutely not ... You know I didn’t sing a single solo on the X Factor ... A lot of people can take the piss out of that. But when you actually think about how that feels, standing on stage every single week, thinking: ‘What have I really done to contribute here? Sing a lower harmony that you can’t really hear in the mix? The kid wearing espadrilles, stood in’t back.”

You don’t have to take your polling card with you. You don’t have to give your voting number to the campaigners outside the polling station. You don’t need ID. You just need to go to the polling station listed on your polling card. When you get to the desk inside, give your name and address to the person waiting. They’ll mark you off on their list - that stops anyone else being able to vote by claiming to be you. Then they’ll give you a voting paper that lists all the candidates standing for election in your constituency, next to the names of their parties. (Your voting paper won’t list Theresa May or Jeremy Corbyn, unless you live in their constituency.) Take your voting paper to one of the little booths - in our polling station, these are tables with sheltering hoods built over them so no one else can see what you’re writing. There are pencils in there. (You can take your own pen if you want to, but honestly, all the stuff about people erasing your vote and writing in a vote for another candidate is just scaremongering. People counting votes don’t have time to change votes.) Mark a cross in the box next to the candidate you want to vote for.  Don’t write rude things or draw rude things next to candidates you don’t like - any mark other than the one next to your chosen candidate could mean that your vote is spoiled and won’t be counted. (If you want to spoil your vote, you are free to do so. I’d really rather you didn’t, but it’s your choice.) When you’ve made your mark, fold the paper up and put it in one of the boxes that are there to collect votes.  And that’s it! You’ve exercised your democratic rights! Go you! Time for the pub.
